All About Crystal Chante

My Story

I remember my sister gave me my first diary when I was 8 years old. She shared with me how she’d always write down her feelings on paper and suggested that I give it a try— and I did. Since then, I tried to document my life every day for as long as I could. My diary entries ranged from my local hangouts with friends, to my emotional relationships with boys, to my battle of insecurities. I kept this up all the way until I was 28 years old living in Atlanta, GA.

Journal writing eventually expanded to poetry, songs, short stories, or whatever creative writing my imagination came up with. I always looked at writing as a hobby and never considered it to be something I can do as a career. So, when I went off to college, I settled with choosing a path that would guarantee me a job after college. Studying biology for the first few years started out exciting, however, my heart was constantly being pulled in another direction and I changed my major to Journalism.

It was during my junior year in undergrad when I realized what I really wanted to do with my life. There I was at Mississippi Valley State University producing my very first stage play that I wrote and directed. With a background in Journalism and very little experience in script writing, that didn’t deter me from trying something that I never done before. The play was a success. I was featured in local newspaper articles in Mississippi for my efforts in writing, directing, and producing the play. It was then that I knew that my writing had potential and I knew that I no longer could ignore what I believe is my gift.

Since then, I have begun my writing career and is proud to announce that I have two published children’s picture books and an Official selection short film that my husband and I produced based off one of them.

I believe I am here to make a difference in the world, to help and inspire people through my imagination. I like to create relatable heartfelt stories that’ll touch my readers in a positive light.

Be Blessed!
